Man charged in PSU student's slaying won't face death penalty The Associated Press STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Prosecutors say they won't seek the death penalty for a man charged with fatally beating a Penn State student. Suspect Andrew Rogers is charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing Youngcheol Park with a baseball bat, beer bottle and rolling pin. Park, a 24-year-old native of South Korea studying aerospace engineering, was killed in February. A Centre County judge last month threw out robbery charges in the case, eliminating the "aggravating circumstance" required for a death sentence. The 28-year-old Rogers, who claims self-defense, is not expected to stand trial until at least the end of the year. --- Information from: Centre Daily Times, www.centredaily.com
