2 awarded capital punishment by ATC
RAWALPINDI: Anti Terrorist Court here on Saturday awarded death penalty to two accused, life sentence to another two and imposed an accumulative fine of Rs 0.4 million whereas one of the accused was acquitted on account of benefit of doubt.
The punishments were awarded by the Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) Judge on the murder, dacoity and attempt of murder case registered in the Attock police station.
Accused Abdul Rehman nicked Shah Ji was awarded capital punishment and Rs 0.1 million after the murder charges against him were proven. He was awarded twice life sentences and a fine of Rs 50,000 for dacoity and 2-year imprisonment for keeping illegal weapons.
The ATC also awarded two accomplices Shahbaz and Amir twice life sentences and Rs 0.1 million per head fine over murder and dacoity charges. The court also awarded two years imprisonment to the two accomplices under illegal arms act. The fourth accused Akram was acquitted on account of benefit of doubt.
The accused were charged of murdering Kashif Iqbal upon showing resistance in a dacoity attempt. The ATC has given the accused benefit under 382 B whereas implementation on all the punishments will begin simultaneously .
Judge Chaudhry Imtiaz, Additional District and Sessions Judge has awarded capital punishment and a fine of Rs 30,000 to accused Gul Nawaz nominated in a murder and dacoity case at Murree police station. He was also awarded 10 years imprisonment on the account of dacoity.
Accused Gul Nawaz was charged of depriving a taxi driver Abdul Hameed of his cab and murdering him.
